Each month has a theme with July's theme being 'introduce where you live, whats special about it?' I was partnered with Erin who is from America but is currently living/working in South Korea with her husband, I had a great time talking to Erin via email and learning a little bit about her. Anyway she sent me a really beautiful package which contained:
A Silver spoon and chopsticks, I've left them in the package because although you can probably buy these everywhere in South Korea I think they are really charming and I don't want to ruin them! I also received a fan with beautiful artwork reflecting a part of South Korean history, Erin didn't realise this but ever since I was younger I've always wanted to collect fans, my Sisters friend used to have this wall of fans in her room and I fell in love with the idea. I set myself the goal that every time I go on holiday I would bring back a fan it failed because most places I went I couldn't find any, I did buy one when I was in Majorca but its not very pretty, so although it wasn't known it really meant a lot receiving this fan, I need to find a safe way to put this on my wall without damaging it! Erin also included a little note that had my name written in South Korean.
After I saw what Erin got for me I wish I sent something with more meaning! I had a few ideas of what to send but they were quite heavy and I had no idea how much posting to South Korea would cost. Below is what I sent:
Being a Tea loving nation of course I had to send some Tea over, without intending to a few of the items I sent over relate to English Literature for Children with Paddington Bear cards, Beatrix Potter and a hand made Winne the Pooh heart, I also made a handmade raincloud and put in some London themed sticky notes and some postcards.
August's theme was 'Under the Sea' a slightly trickier theme. My partner was Jess, after getting to know her a little she told me one of her favourite things about beaches is the sound of the waves, so I decided to buy her this:
A wind chime, it may not sound like the sea but it might have the same relaxing effect. I used one of these wind chimes in the Summer Swap I took part in recently. They are really lovely I got them from this Ebay shop they have so many great items. I still haven't recieved anything, I don't even know if Jess has received this...
